Kuapa Member Wins Regional Award

Mr Nicholas K. Dzogbese a member of Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Union (KKFU) has won the Regional Best Farmer award.

The Kuapa member who is based at the Asempanaye District in the Western Region of Ghana was awarded the Western Regional Best Farmer for the year 2010.

According to the 52 year old Dzogbese , he took to farming at the age of 32 and has benefitted a lot from the farming business. He describes farming as a very lucrative proffession saying ''it is through farming that I have been able to cater for my children's education and even supports other needy children in my village''.

He became a member of KKFU in 1996/97. Since he joined Kuapa Kokoo he has expanded his farm size and during the last cocoa season, was able to produce 855 bags of cocoa to win the Regional Best Cocoa Farmer for the 2010/11 season.

Mr. Dzogbese advised the youth not to disregard farming as only good for the older generation and illiterates but take farming as a noble and profitable profession.

Oheneba Kwabi Goes on Retirement.

Management and staff of Kuapa Kokoo last month, 23rd December, 2010 joined the Communication Department of the company to pay homage and honour to Mr Oheneba Kwabi the Quality Officer and the acting Project Officer when the latter organized a send off party to the man who has served the Union since 2004.
Mr Kwabi born in 21st November, 1950 was first stationed at Wassaw Akropong in the Central region as the Research and Development Officer (RDO) when he joined Kuapa. In 2006, he was moved to the Head Office where worked under the supervision of Mr Agyei Gyan and Mrs Mabel Addy.
He later on became the Quality Officer and also acted as the Project Officer, a position he held till his retirement. Recounting some of his experiences at Kuapa during the send off party, Oheneba Kwabi recounted an incident that occurred at Asankragua when circumstances forced him to push the vehicle he was travelling while it was raining.
Oheneba Yaw Kwabi heaped praises on all Kuapa staff especially Mr. Agyei Gyan whom he says he learnt a lot from and Mr. Emmanuel K. Arthur the Executive Director of KKFU, for his open and analytical criticism.
On his achievement in charge of projects, he mentioned the building of School Block and Teachers Quarters at Amankwatia in the Offinso District, KVIP at Twifo Wamanso, Cornmill installation at Awaham as some projects he undertook.
He advice the staff of Kuapa Kokoo not to engage in divisive tendencies but to strive to love and support each other whilst ensuring that Kuapa move ahead.
