KUAPA HIT THE HEADLINES.

How Some Newspapers in Ghana Reported our Events
Kuapa Kokoo has for sometime now been occupying spaces of major media houses in the country as the company fast becomes synonymous with development projects aimed at improving the lots of members and communities it operates. Some of the headlines reads; "Famers build School", Kuapa honours Farmers''; ''New School Bloc for Amankwatia,''Kuapa Gets Woman President,'' Kuapa Kokoo Supports City Beautificaton'' and Kuapa Kokoo Expand Operations.''

Others are;''Kuapa Kokoo Gets 5m dollar loan Facility'', Kuapa pays Bonus to Members,'' Kuapa Holds Extraordinary AGM'', Kuapa Increases Farmers Bonuses'',and Kuapa Installs Cornmill in a Farming Community''.

These have been headlines from leading newspapers like; 'The Daily Graphic', 'Ghanaian Times', The Daily Guide, the Searchlight, Graphic Nsempa, Daily Democrat, The Herald and the Ghanaian Observer.  

Kuapa has managed to become a leading, caring and the most efficient co-operative cocoa marketing company in Ghana by virtue of its good policies and strategic support derived from Twin  and Divine Chocolate Limited.

IMPROVE QUALITY OF COCOA PRODUCE.

The Managing director of Kuapa Kokoo limited (KKL), Mr. Kwasi Aduse – Poku has called on cocoa farmers in the country to ensure that they produce high quality and well dried cocoa beans for export. He explained that the major players within the cocoa industry incur heavy losses as a result of low quality cocoa produce.

 ’’I would like to urge you to take particular care of issues of quality. Please ensure that cocoa beans sent to the shed are thoroughly dried and of good quality’’. Mr. Aduse Poku noted.

The managing director gave this advice during the 16th annual general delegates’ conference of Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Union (KKFU) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi last Friday August 6th, 2010.

Over 2,000 delegates across the five regions where Kuapa Kokoo operates met and deliberated on the affairs of the Union.

He used the occasion to commend Kuapa Kokoo farmers and staff for their hard work over the years and expressed the hope that they would continue to do more.

AWAHAM CORNMILL COMMISSIONED

The people of Awaham, a village, which is a 25 minute drive from effiduase in the Ashanti region, would forever be greateful to kuapa kokoo as the company has fulfilled one of their cherished wishes.

The wish of the entire village was to get a corn mill and through the request made by members of the Awaham Kuapa Kokoo Society to the Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Trust (KKFT), their wish materialized.

The request was as a result of the trouble the people always encounter by walking for about 4 kilometers to the nearest town to mill their foodstuff.
The corn mill project was commissioned on Thursday, July 15 at an estimated cost of GH¢ 5,900.

The expression of joy and excitement that was seen on the faces of the people attests to the fact that the people appreciated the project.
Commissioning the project, Mad.Comfort Kumeah, the immediate past KKFT board person said that the Awaham society’s request was granted based on their contribution to KKFU.She added the amount of the cocoa they supplied to Kuapa was also considered.
She further explained that the project was funded through the premiums paid by Fairtrade to KKFU, which was to finance the project.

On his part, Mr.Oheneba Kwabi, KKL project manager asked the community to take good care of the machine. He suggested they form a committee that will manage and see to its maintenance. Present at the occasion included; Benkumhene of the town, Nana Kwabena Kwakye, District Manager of KKL, and Executives and members of Awaham society and people of the village.
